This short-short story shares much with the concept of the Hitchcock movie "The Lady Vanishes" and several other mysteries. It lacks the characterization and humor of the longer piece, though. The main character is far less sympathetic - upon receiving the gruesome solution to the mystery, she smiles because the victim's death worked out well for her. Ugh! Still, it's engaging enough.
