Published in 1914, Flying U Ranch is a Western novel by B. M. Bower (1871–1940) and one of the core entries in her popular Flying U series. The cowboys of the Flying U face a new threat when a scheming homesteader moves onto neighboring land and begins fencing off the open range. The novel captures the tension between the old ranching way of life and the encroachment of settlers and barbed wire that was transforming the American West.
