About This Book

First published in Amazing Stories magazine in May 1962, The Stars, My Brothers is a science fiction novella by Edmond Hamilton (1904–1977). A man is reanimated after a century frozen in suspended animation and finds himself on a distant planet where feral humans live alongside the reptilian aliens who now govern them. The story poses uncomfortable questions about what it means to be human, whether intelligence alone confers moral status, and how civilized beings justify their treatment of creatures they consider lesser.

Hamilton was one of the pioneering writers of space opera, active from the late 1920s through the 1960s, and was married to fellow science fiction author Leigh Brackett. His work for DC Comics included the Captain Future series. The Stars, My Brothers is in the public domain.
