About This Book

First published as a serial in Adventure magazine in 1922, Affair in Araby is an adventure novel by Talbot Mundy (1879–1940), born William Lancaster Gribbon. It is part of the popular Jimgrim series, following the exploits of James Schuyler Grim, a shrewd American secret agent stationed in Jerusalem during the turbulent post-World War I period.

In this installment, Jimgrim and his companions must prevent a forged order — attributed to Feisal, the Arab leader promised a kingdom by the Allies — from triggering a massacre in Jerusalem. French operatives are working to discredit Feisal and seize control of Syria, and Jimgrim must outmaneuver them through a tangle of disguises, desert crossings, and political intrigue. Mundy drew on his own extensive travels in the Middle East and India to give the novel its vivid sense of place.

Talbot Mundy was one of the most popular adventure writers of the early twentieth century, known for exotic settings and themes of honor across cultures. The work is in the public domain and freely available through Project Gutenberg.
